Our Counselling Environment

What Is Counselling ?

There are many forms of counselling, and it can feel overwhelming for people who are trying to find the 'right' therapeutic support. I am a trained integrative counsellor, which allows me to respond intuitively to my client using a more tailored approach, helping them find the ways and tools that will work best for them, rather than insisting that they work to my preferences.

I like to think of counselling as consisting of a safe person and place where you can explore things that feel difficult to share with others, about yourself or your situation. That safe person, your counsellor, will offer you compassion, empathy and a non-judgmental ear to share issues that may be causing you some distress. Some people also come to counselling in order to gain some skills with which to manage life's curveballs, or just to gain further insight and understanding into themselves.

At my core I am a person-centred counsellor which means that I am non-directive and led by my client in sessions. I firmly believe that in working together, we can identify the tools and understanding of self that you already have inside and work together to being these elements and solutions to the foreground. My hope for you is that you can go away from our sessions feeling empowered, more confident, and with a greater self-awareness.

There are many reasons someone may come to therapy, each unique, and as a therapist it's a privilege to be a part of those processes.
